Dentistry & Oral Surgery

Dedicated dental surgical suite.

The dental surgical suite was built deliberately in 2022 because most general practices share their main OR with dental cases on dental days — which means the OR is unavailable for emergencies during those days. We don't share. The dental suite has its own table, its own ultrasonic scaler and high-speed handpiece, its own digital dental radiography sensor, and its own anesthesia setup. The surgical OR stays available for surgery.

Every dental cleaning at Field & Stone includes full-mouth digital dental radiographs as standard. Approximately 60% of canine and 70% of feline dental disease is sub-gingival and invisible on visual exam alone. Radiographs are the diagnostic.

Routine dental cleanings are performed by Dr. Sarah Cho, who completed an advanced dentistry CE program through the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry. Complex extractions, oral mass biopsy, mandibulectomy referral coordination, and oral surgical cases are managed by Dr. Reema Sandhu, DACVS, in collaboration with Dr. Cho.

What we do

"A dental cleaning without radiographs is a polish job. We don't do polish jobs."

What we don't do

We do not perform anesthesia-free dental cleaning. We will not perform it as an add-on, a low-cost option, or a sedation-light compromise. Anesthesia-free dentistry cannot access the sub-gingival surface, cannot perform diagnostic radiographs, and cannot safely extract diseased teeth. It exists because it sounds reassuring to pet owners. We will not do it.

Frequently asked.

Do you offer anesthesia-free dental cleaning?

No. Anesthesia-free dentistry cannot access the sub-gingival surface and cannot perform radiographs that diagnose most disease. We treat it as pet theater rather than medicine.

Why does a cleaning cost $585?

The base reflects full anesthesia, full-mouth digital dental radiographs, ultrasonic scaling above and below the gumline, polishing, and a written dental chart. Complex extractions are prorated above the base.

How long is recovery?

Routine cleanings — patients go home the same day, normal by the next morning. Surgical extractions — soft food and exercise restriction for 10 to 14 days.

Is anesthesia safe?

Yes — see the surgery page for full anesthesia monitoring protocol. Pre-anesthetic bloodwork standard, dedicated anesthesia technician, full multi-parameter monitoring.
